Indoor Air Quality (IAQ)

Despite the fact that more and more homes are becoming better energy efficient and air tight, homeowners do not consider the side effects that may come with a tightened home. A house that has been tightened up to much can leave you with stale and contaminated air, impairing the comfort level in your home.
The air in your home can be full of pollutants, such as dust and dust mites, bacteria and viruses, pet dander, pollen, tobacco smoke, to name a few. With today's effective technology on the market, when IAQ products are used properly, some or all of these products listed below will help improve the health and comfort of your home.

Indoor Air Analysis

Most people spend close to 90% of their time indoors. Very often indoor air contains higher concentrations of hazardous pollutions than the outdoor air. Did you know that common symptoms of exposure to indoor air pollutants include fatigue, headache, nausea, scratchy throat and nasal irritation? The good news is that Rudy Uttke & Sons can help reduce the indoor air pollution in your home. We would be happy to have a trained technician come to your home and set up an Air Advice® monitor to identify and measure any IAQ problem sources.

Once the technician reviews the report, a print out of your personalized report will be given to you with recommendations and appropriate IAQ solutions based on air measurements, observations and your individual needs. The solutions may vary from humidifiers, germicidal lights (UV lights), high efficiency air cleaners, dehumidifiers, ventilators and CO detectors.

UV Germicidal Lamps (UV lights)

Bacteria and molds can find a home in and around your air conditioner's evaporator coil. That can lead to odors, illnesses and aggravating allergies. When properly installed near the air conditioning coil, the UV lamp kills the harmful growths and eliminates the odors associated with this growth and can improve the efficiency of your cooling unit. This same process has been used in hospitals for many years.

It is a great solution for optimum indoor air comfort and well-being throughout your home.

High Efficiency Air Cleaner

We recommend the Aprilaire® Model 5000 Electronic Air Filter which is considered the highest performing electronic air cleaner there is on the market. This electronic air filter can effectively attract and retain pollutants 1,000 times smaller than the human eye can see. Electronic air filters are best for whole house air filtration.

Honeywell® Whole House Dehumidifiers

Do you ever feel stickiness, dampness and smell strange odors at any given season? Excess humidity that you may have in your home can make for very uncomfortable comfort levels in your home. Honeywell® has a solution with a Whole-house Dehumidifier. A Whole-house Dehumidifier is installed in your home's heating and cooling system and works to eliminate excess moisture in all rooms of your home.

Rudy Uttke & Sons can help you get the humidification your home needs year round.

CO Detectors

Your family's health will benefit by installing a Carbon Monoxide detector in your home. Carbon Monoxide (CO) is the most commonly encountered poison in your home. Dangers can result from faulty operation or ventilation of fireplaces, a car running in the garage, ranges, grills, dryers and other gas appliances. You need to protect your family from this silent killer.

Do you already own a carbon monoxide detector? Most carbon monoxide detectors are effective for 3-5 years. It is important to have them tested regularly and it is best to replace them every five years.

Each of our service technicians have digital carbon monoxide analyzers, readily available to analyze your homes CO levels.

Duct Cleaning

Most homeowners do not concern themselves with what's circulating in their duct work, but we do! Household duct work systems contain dust mites, mold, mildew, pollen and pet dander. These are all things that very aggravating to people who suffer from allergies and even asthma.

We not only deep clean your duct work but also sanitize your duct work with a patented Rotobrush® machine. Here is how it works; we clean and sanitize all register covers to remove any film build up or dust that may have collected on them. We then deep clean the source of the air supply. The air ducts are then brush vacuum cleaned, removing the contaminants that circulate through the air ducts. We will sanitize the ducts with an environment safe sanitizer, leaving behind a fresh scent. With the Rotobrush® machine, we are able to easily clean all types of air ducts (flex duct, round and square ducts, etc.) and are able to easily maneuver through the multiple bends usually found in most types of duct systems.
